“ONCE IN A LIFETIME”
CHALLENGE
Project manager, Sue Williamson and friends (“Sisters with Blisters”) were successful in walking 100 km across the South Downs from Petersfield to Brighton in July in less than 30 hours to raise money for the Gurkha Welfare Trust and Oxfam. In total, they raised almost £4,000.
“I can honestly say this was the hardest physical challenge I've ever undertaken,” says Sue. “I can't remember being in so much pain for such an extended period of time ever before. The toughest thing is the mental challenge – knowing that all you have to do to stop the pain is stop walking – but remaining stubborn and determined to complete the task at hand.”

“I can highly recommend this event as a once in a lifetime challenging experience – and I do mean once! In those 28 hours you have a lot of thinking time – to put things into perspective – and you make lifelong friends.

STAR RATING
The Livewire team who worked together with GSK Biologicals to pull off a very successful symposium at this year’s International Symposium on Pneumococci & Pneumococcal Diseases (ISPPD) in Reykjavik, followed very quickly by an expert roundtable meeting in Budapest get this issue’s star rating.

Everyone involved in the meetings was pleased with the outcome, not least the external experts.

“One of the best quality sponsored symposia I have been
involved with. It did not stick out like a sore thumb from the main programme in the way they usually do. Also, we did not overrun our allotted time!”

“Reflecting on the successful meeting on otitis media last Saturday I do realise how instrumental the logistics part of the organisation was to the meeting. Thanks to your professionalism and flawless execution we could concentrate on the bacteriae. The feedback of all the participants was unanimously positive. Thank you again for being such a good team.”
